I Will Return To Haunt You With Peculiar Piano Riffs
Radio.blog is back in action. Three tracks for now.
1. Judy and Mary - Suteki Uta
Pretty good, bouncy pop number. Manages to pull some moments of tangible emotion that make the whole song more than just catchy, especially the end.
2. Sparta Locals - Tokyo Ballerina
A track from the only Japanese post-punk group I'm aware of. Not really a post-punk track. There's these great, very" Japanese" sounding guitar riffs scattered throughout. There is a standard bouncy bassline, but the carefree pop elements is what creates the distinction.
3. Sparta Locals - UFO Banzai
The rhythm section is thoroughbred post-punk. The lead singer does a bit of David Byrne action before the breakdown, except the scream, which I don't know of as a Byrne signature. A rockin track though. Fits right under 3 minutes, which is just the right amount for such a track.
