Seriously?

To my suprise the president has backed a fairly sensible immigration policy. It increases funding, though according to satistics increased funding doesn't really do the trick, it backs the idea of sending arrested illegal immigrants back to their hometown, which has been effective, and it offers temporary work permits, which may lead to citizenship with "oustanding behavior". To explain the whole hometown thing, currently people who are caught crossing the border, are just released with a document saying they have a court date. Most don't show up and just set up shop. Not effective. Either way wasn't expecting it, but many Americans aren't to happy about the immigration situation, so it had to come up eventually.

Good indepth article from The Economist.
