Spank Rock

Courtesy of those cats at Allmusic, I found out about this hip-hop duo, Spank Rock. For a minute there, I thought underground hip-hop was rolling over and dying, but all the sudden some heavy weights are hitting the scene and getting attention.

Now, Spank Rock, is without a doubt a group that takes influence from the hip-hop days of yore, but I haven't heard anything this fresh in ages. The beats are fantastic, being equally clever and danceable. The key difference from most other underground hip-hop, is that this MC, Naeem Juan, or Spank Rock, is unbeliebly dirty. They have a single called "Put That Pussy On Me", enough said. Somehow, perhaps because he's a bit geeky in timbre, Juan makes it easily digestable.

Here's the video for "Rick Rubin", with censored lyrics.
