Acoustic

Finally, I've got another radio.blog put together. This is only the 2nd of the month, I believe. The theme today is actually stuff I've listened recently, but all songs, except the first, happen to feature acoustic guitars.

Tracklist:

1. Shugo Tokumaru - funfair
I gave into the massive hype around this guy and listened to a few songs. The hype is deserved. This first track is a playful little number, featuring a recorder playing the melody. I can imagine little kids running around in the springtime listening to this.
2. Shugo Tokumaru - typewritter
A fairly simple song, it's mainly Shugo and his guitar. Little snaps and clips are added in, but the guitar is doing the heavy lifting. I especially love the main riff and the bridge, which has a traditional japanese/folk feel to it.
3. Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Polaski Day
I got this song off a KCRW performance. The instrumentation is different in this version and I prefer it. The acoustic guitar and trumpet suits me. A great performance too, everything is perfectly executed. Disclaimer: This track had some issues loading when I was playing it. It stops at "your father cri..". If you skip ahead just a dash the rest of it will play.
4. The Smiths - Cemetry Gates
Wow, I wish I could change the sequence. This shouldn't go after that Sufjan track. A good track though. It's catchy and mentions English poets, which few songs do. It is spelled cemetry and not cemetery, British English I suppose.
5. The Smiths - The Boy With The Thorn In His Side
Inspired to get this track after seeing the music video on VH1 Classic. Similar to "Cemetry Gates" except with a more dramatic vocal delivery. It kind of wears out its welcome at the end, but great until that point.
