Wild Beasts

To my surprise I haven't posted about the English group Wild Beasts yet. This quintet from Kendal, England hit the scene in 2006 with their fantastic debut single "Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants". There are now up to their third single "Assembly", which is a lead up to their first album of unknown release date. The music itself is typically bouncy alternative-pop. The group puts a fair amount of quirkiness and eccentricity in their songs to make them a little darker and stranger than the typical pop song. A large part of that comes from the amazing lead singer Hayden Thorpe. His voice goes from girlish falsetto to rough growl in as little as one line and I love it. Maybe that's just my penchant for vocal sass. The video below for "Assembly" may not have the most vocal sass, but it's a great upbeat, super-catchy track and worth a listen.
