Those Bitches

So, as you may recall, there was a debate over whether or not we should drill in Alaska for oil. The location where this oil exists, also happens to be a wildlife refuge, which is 19 million acres in size(the size of North Carolina). This refuge contains 45 different types of mammals and 180 different species of birds. Now recently the conservative congress passed a bill which would allow drilling here, in hopes the oil found here would reduce oil prices. This place however doesn't contain very much oil and is seen by most oil companies as economically unpromising.
Now, it's not simply that I don't want this undeveloped land to be messed up, or the animals protected, the main thing is, this won't really help. What happens after we run out of oil? We'll be in the same exact situation. Then we have high oil prices again and a ruined environment. This idea is absolutely ridiculous, yet the general public is so immensely ignorant and innocent, they can't possibly grasp that this plan is just a bunch of fluff and it's only purpose to make them believe something is being done. Man, I have to struggle to not be a misanthropist.
