Radio Lab
I'm quite a fan of podcasts, I'm currently subscribed to eight in iTunes, but most of those podcast are very niece podcasts - you'd probably be really confused unless you were hip to the subject matter. There is however a podcast that's purpose is to inform. From WNYC, New York Public Radio, comes Radio Lab. It's a weekly radio show, available in podcast form that explores, as put by the Radio Lab team, how "science bumps into culture..." Typically science isn't up there in the list of interests, but the production on this show is really fantastic, and manages to keep, my attention at least, for the entire hour of it's duration. There's lots of great sound effects, and the hosts weave interviews into their reports very fluidly. There's hardly a dull moment. The Radio Lab team takes stories, from all times and uses real life events to explain a theme, which adds a sense of practically and tangibility to fairly grand scientific topics.
It is perhaps important to explain how to get this podcast. Since I believe every reader has iTunes, I'll explain how to get a podcast through iTunes.
1. Go into iTunes and click on the iTunes Store link.
2. Type in "Radiolab" into the search bar in the upper-right corner.
3. The first results should be WNYC's Radio Lab, click on the subscribe link.
4. iTunes will download the most recent episode, and will update with the new podcast whenever it is available. You'll find these podcasts, under the Podcast section in iTunes.
Or, you can click this link.
