Elephant Shell

The quartet from Toronto, or T.Dot for people in the know, Tokyo Police Club have a full length record coming out in April. They're a pop group with post-punk leanings. The bass and drum grooves are typically simple but heavy and propulsive. A distorted synth and guitar typically add melody and fill out the harmony. Perhaps the most appealing part about the Club is how young their songs sound. They may not be super original, but the songs are perfect little 2-3 minute snippets that have so much immediacy and energy that a line like "...every step I grow another second young" makes sense. Their latest "In a Cave" catches that same spirit but in a more autumnal way. Worth a listen.
