I know this has been mentioned a few times, and I finally found the picture I took.
That is pretty amazing.

Honestly, that's just about right, preference-wise. I don't know so much about conservative girls, at least politically I'll take a crazy liberal girl any day of the week over a conservative one. The top 3 though, that's is exactly my preference. Not saying I don't like other types of women, but I am drawn to that for the most part. I'll let other people judge the accuracy of my characteristics.

Stuff

I don't like to take a long blog hiatus, so here's what I've got.

I've been listening to that new Gorillaz single, Feel Good Inc.
Besides the rap part, this song is great. The rap part just doesn't fit very well. That bass groove, that's right I learned how to play it. The chorus bit, great as well.

I've been listening to some New Order lately, you know the spin off group from Joy Division, I like it, well the two tracks i'm downloaded, but yeah I like it. When I heard the song "Leave Me Alone" I got all the post punk references, it's pretty evident. Good song though, and cool bass work, the bass plays a trebly, melodic part through the whole song. Is New Order one of those groups, where people say "OMG you listen to New Order, how predictable."? I think they might be, as though I care about that though.

It could just be a 2nd listen, or they are better live, but I like it. I don't know if I'd get a CD just yet, but it's nice. All Picaresque songs I believe.

It's my birthday soon enough, you can say whatever you'd like besides, ohh porn and cigarettes, that's stupid and you know it, and you know my stance on both of those.

Dance/Rock Thing

We all know plenty of groups have tried this, and those groups have been thoroughly shunned. Most notably The Bravery and The Killers. I'll admit I'm not crazy about either bands, but I love myself some New Romantic music, for example Duran Duran, Japan, well really just those two groups.

I was doing what I recommend most do, checking out the videos on KCRW.com. They have this group Every Move a Picture, I thought the name wasn't bad, so I decided to peep them. At first I heard some electronics, a dance beat and some scratchy guitars and I was bracing for dissapointment, but they make it work.


Let me list how they are not the two bands previously mentioned.
-They have a good leader singer. The guys from The Bravery/The Killers can't really sing, AKA limited range.
-It's catchy, that's what the music is supposed to be like.
-The music takes off at point. The other groups are definately stranded on the run way.
-Ethnic member, well all love ourselves ethnic band members.
-Less emphasis on bass. Most of the time I don't care for this, but the guitar melodies are really where the music is, not the bass and drums.

Not so great bits.
-Recorded music doesn't sound as good as live mix.
-The songs could still use some polishing, some unevenness. Great chorus, alright verses type of thing.
-Most electronic samples are weak, they shouldn't be there.
-Bassist using a P-bass, forget that. P-basses aren't for dance music get yourself a J or a Musicman, honestly.

Every Move A Picture are not great, especially after I've given myself a 2nd listen. Ohh man I did all this writing too.

GO!GO!7188

I've been aware of GO!GO!7188 for some time, but only recently have I made and effort to learn about the group and listen to a collection of their music.

The group conists of Yuu Nakashima(guitar/lead vocals)
Akko Hamada(bass/vocals)
and Taakii(drums)

The things I notice about their music.
Lots of changes, this isn't really an AB band.
The bass is great, Akko lays down some fantastic bass lines.
Guitar is great, I'm suprised someone can sing and play guitar like that.
It's rocks quite a bit.
Pretty catchy too.

I'm not exactly the best band reviewer. If you don't mind the language difference check it out.

Birthday is in a week, or just about.

Canadian Cigarette Warnings

Canada decided to put massive warning pictures on their cigarette packs in order to discourage smokers from buying them, and apparently they are highly effective(US should do it).

Some are pretty graphic so I shant post them directly on my website, so it isn't full of pictures warnings against mouth cancer. I have links however.

Japan is Pissing Everyone Off

Let me sum up the three events.

First Japan claims a group of islands, called the Takeshima(jp)/Dokdo(kr) islands, which South Korea also claims, so Koreans got pissed.

Second the Japanese government approves textbooks which somewhat glance over Japan's invasion of Manchuria during WWII, the murder of 300,00o and rape of 200,000 is called an "incident" in this book. So yeah, Chinese people got pissed. The schools still choose whether or not they want to use these books.

Third Japan has starting drilling in an oil field in the East China Sea which is of course disputed space with China, so China got pissed again.

Japanese stores, students, and people have been attacked in China. I've got to say, just burn stuff, leave the regular people out of it.

Tough times for Japan, they are just blowing it. They could have just stuck with whale hunting as their contraversy, nobody really cares about the whales.

I believe tomorrow will be public service announcement day.

Some Sick Bastard

Some sick bastard deleted my Final Fantasy X-2 game. I had 98% beat, 98%!!!!!!! This means however my free time will be filled playing that game. I'm having fun so far, hot chics, great battle system, and tons of outfits, everything to appeal to my manliness.

Love Will Tear Us Apart

Alright, so not much is actually worth posting, but I do it anyway, but this is good.

I ran across this group Nouvelle Vague, a french group that does Bossa Nova style covers of famous 80's songs, and that's right they did the infamous Joy Division song, "Love Will Tear Us Apart". It's not that bad, actually kind of nice. The girl has a great voice too, at least the one who sings, "Love Will Tear Us Apart".Ohh man and they did a cover of "I Melt With You", I love that song.

It plays in real player, really worth a listen , initially because you think it's funny, then you realize, hey this is pretty good. Relax to the smooth, calm version of "Love Will Tear Us Apart".

Internet Not Working

My internet connection has decided to connect but not allow the transfer of any information. After several failed attempts at getting the computer to tranfer some information, it just decided ,out of no where, with no action from me, to work again, only working in a limited fashion though. Some websites will work, some won't. I'll use this limited time of function to post about how my internet is barely working and also try to find a sollution. I swear if my internet fails on me, my mindless entertainment is gone. Besides video games and movies, but still, I must talk to people about stupid things through text.

In a move of great courage I will try Comcast's advice of resetting my router. I feel like I'm undertaking some grand quest but I don't know a deep dark secret that will cause me great trouble . You know those situations where some young hero leaves and he tells the old wise guy "I must go save the princess!", then he runs off and the old wise man says "Little does he know, he is the one who needs to be saved." Off to save my internet connection. *sounds of horse hoofs, or a dragon flyi, wait..... *sound of dragon flying off*

Ed Harcourt

I woke up early today to shower and in the process of my hair drying I decided to watch a KCRW performance of this cat Ed Harcourt. I think this performance is more simple then his recorded works, just piano and a trumpet, which works really well, provides some subtle jazz overtones.

So far, i'm really digging him. His voice is fantastic, at least in my opinion. Really mellow music, touching I'd say. Check it out. This song "This One's For You" is really good.

L'arc en ciel

Well these cats got back together last year after a hiatus and released some fairly average music. Here's a clip from the new single "New World" doesn't sound bad, but ohh man I wish Hyde(lead singer)didn't smoke so much, you know it took some serious effort to pull off that chorus, his voice is dying. A bit too, we're trying to make a hit for kids, as well. You guys are in your 30s forget the kids and make a record full of ballads already.

Open Season

After let's see four hours of listening to British Sea Power's new CD Open Season, I'll use the 5 star system and give it 3 out of 5. I'll go track by track.

1.It Ended On An Oily Stage - Best Track on the CD.
2.Be Gone - Main melody is great, the verses are great, but the chorus is just awkward, weird vocal layering and not much of a climax.
3.How Will I Ever Find My Way Home? - Pretty good song, not amazing, sung by the bassist, he does a pretty good job. Lyrics are ok, somewhat bland.
4.Like a Honeycomb - Pretty solid track. A slow one, but flows well.
5.Please Stand Up - Sounds very early 90's to me. The verses aren't bad but when the chorus hits you are teleported to the early 90's and you don't like it too much.
6.North Hanging Rock - Don't really like it, it never really gets me, the sound is just very thin, which i don't care much for.
7.To Get To Sleep - Alright track, somewhat humorous, but just not very good.
8.Victorian Ice - Great song, it's got a folk feel, but it's great. Main melody is really catchy, probably 2nd best track on the CD.
9.Oh Larsen B - Intro bass riff is cool, verse cool. It's about an ice shelf. Not an outstanding track though.
10.The Land Beyond - Pretty good track, slow track, somewhat soothing.
11.True Adventures - 1/2 noise, 1/2 song, doesn't really work.

Would I recommend you buy it? Probably not. Buy the "It Ended On An Oily Stage" single? Yes.

Not Bad Not Great

We've all heard something about Bloc Party. I saw one music video and thought "This isn't too shabby".

I was checking KCRW and the Morning Becomes Eclectic videos and of course they had a Bloc Party performance. I'm still listening to it and still it isn't too bad. They don't stray too far from the dance beat/post punk groups, each song definately has a instrumental section in it, lots of focus on guitar counterplay, it's all about the guitars really. I'm not crazy about the vocalist, but he isn't bad, just wish he sang a bit more, he trys to sing but ends up just talk singing. One distinction may be the band is usually rocking, upbeat and quick. Ohh snap the main guitarist just broke out harmonics that sound like police sirens, touche main guitarist, touche. You could dig them, even if they have crazy hype. I'm not crazy about them, but perhaps on a more attentive listen, they aren't bad though, but perhaps not great.

deadman Song and the Pope Died(Coincidence)

First, I did post a music video clip for the deadman song "seija no koushin". I finally was able to download it and I'm really digging it, so I'm doing that yousendit business.

The singing is kind of flat, but still pretty good. I could see people saying "man, he sings loud, forget that", just listen to the whole song. I think it's extremely good.

Next, yeah the Pope is dead. I'm interested in seeing what the whole Pope selecting process is, must be interesting. It doesn't necessarily matter to me, seeing as I'm not Roman Catholic, but still change is a brewing(said in JFK voice).

Man, I love this song. Hiyaku, Hiyaku(translated as nostrum, questionable medicine, or shady medicine as the kids would say.)

Victorian Ice

I don't have much to write about. I think I will get British Sea Power's new CD, Open Season. I've heard the first single, as posted previously, and this song Victorian Ice. Victorian Ice has a semi-folk feel to it, I suppose. I normally don't care for folk tinged music, but the British Sea Power twist makes it's pretty good. Not as good as "It Ended On An Oily Stage" though, that song is beautiful.
