Don't Talk To Me About Love

This Altered Images song (see title) is one of the best things I've heard in a while. Clearly a disco influenced track. It does remind me, somewhat, of Blondie's disco flavoured tracks, but a little more upbeat and sillier. This is probably due to lead singer, Clare Grogan, who is very peppy and silly to start with. The lead guitar line, totally brilliant, and the groove is nothing but danceable. Amazing chorus too.

It's been longer than I thought since I made a post.

Word on the street is that Interpol has signed to Capitol records. NME, Pitchfork and Billboard have all said such. I wrote a post earlier about this, that was better, but then Firefox 2(beta) crashed, oh well. Probably shouldn't have eaten 6 bagels.

Here I am with a trailer, again. This film, starring Will Ferrell, Emma Thompson and Dustin Hoffman. It seems quite hilarious, judging from this trailer. I'd explain the premise, but really it's better if the trailer does so.

Wal-Mart unveils drop in profits

First off, I hate Wal-Mart, with a passion. It's not just because being at Wal-Mart makes you feel like dying because everyone in there seems so depressed, oh no. It's because Wal-Mart undercuts small American businesses, forcing them to close and through it's vigorous effort to keep prices low, forces companies like Kraft and Rubbermaid to cut costs and fire employees just to meet Wal-Mart's asking price.

"Wal-Mart has been beset by problems in recent months, including facing stiff competition in its home market where sales growth has lagged behind rival discount retailers Target and Costco."

I love Costco and Target.

So, Paul Simonon(Bassist from The Clash), is forming a group with David Albarn(Blur/Gorillaz) and Johnny Marr(Smiths Guitarist) has joined Modest Mouse. I guess it's the season for important musicians of yore to be in groups with current popular musicians.

Now there's a proper trailer for the film. It seems much funnier then I would have imagined. I can still see lots of people bitching about the American accents and the primarily New Wave/Post-Punk music, but I think it's a good touch. It makes things much less stuffy.

24 Hours, 25 Years

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of MTV, Vh1 Classic is playing the first 24 hours of MTV. So far, it is awesome. I just saw "Boys Keep Swinging" by David Bowie. MTV, used to be so cred. Either way, tune in, if you can.
