Not Brick Sized?

If you are familiar with Electro-Harmonix pedals, they're huge. You could easily beat someone to death with them(see title). Fortunately Electro-Harmonix has released a line of practically sized pedals, which they decided to call their Nano line. Not the most creative name, but I'm sure many are glad that they don't need to carry a small child with them to get some fuzz. I've been wanting a chorus pedal for my bass. It's only $52, and small. It's also made in America, which is honestly pretty cool.

Election 2006

Pew research center published some polling results on Thursday: here are the results.

"With less than two weeks to go before the midterm elections, the Democrats not only continue to maintain a double-digit advantage nationally, but also lead by the same margin in the competitive districts that will determine which party controls the House of Representatives. Nationally, the Democrats hold a 49%-38% lead among registered voters, and a nearly identical 50%-39% lead among those voters most likely to cast ballots on Nov. 7."

"In oversample of voters in 40 competitive districts ­ identified by a consensus of political analysts ­ shows that voting intentions in the battleground districts are about the same as they are in the "safe" House districts. Among registered voters, the Democrats lead by 11 points in competitive districts (50%-39%) and by the same margin in safe districts (49%-38%)."

New Jersey Legalizes Gay Marriage...Sort Of

The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that gay couples are entitled to the same marriage rights as heterosexual couples. However, the Court also ruled that the legislature must make the final decision, and has given them 6 months to do so. So, we'll see, but I'm still excited.

This Command is Fergalicious

I just found out this badass command for Macs. Hold your cursor over any word, then press control+command(apple button)+d and a little window will pop up and give you an Oxford Dictionary definition of the word. It's pretty much the built in dictionary, but a little neater.

$100 Million Dream

According to tech news website, Slashdot, Wikipedia Co-Founder Jimmy Wales is asking the Wikipedia user base to suggest uses for $100 million, which the Co-Founder says could be used to benefit the site. The cool part is, he's leaning towards buying copyrights for content and posting it for free on Wikipedia. Imagine, if you will, that Wikipedia buys the rights to use the New York Times news archive, or buys the rights to use all the definitions in Oxford's OED. It all depends, but that would be exciting. First, it would be great for research, and secondly it would give that great information to everyone without cost.

US awaits gay marriage decision

There has definately been a lot of news in the past year about gay marriage being legalized, but in other countries. There has, unfortunately, been almost nothing but legal set-backs in the US. Finally, there seems to be some good news out of New Jersey.

"New Jersey is one of only five US states without either a law or a state constitutional amendment blocking same-sex marriage."

"New Jersey authorised domestic partnerships two years ago, but advocates of same-sex marriage are seeking additional legal protections."

Hopefully New Jersey offers equal rights for same-sex couples. I remember not too long ago, they had a gay Governer, albeit unknowingly.

Firefox 2 came out today. I highly recommend it; great upgrade for anyone using Firefox, and even people that aren't. It works for Macs too.

Not exactly sure how this project got off the ground, but there are a series of short snippets of a bigger story. I'm guessing by the first snippet, or episode, that they're 5 minutes a piece. This looks awesome. It's part of the (Product)RED initiative. Which is a line of products, like the Pink products, were part of the proceeds go to AIDS research. $10 in this case. If this gets more red tech products out there, I'm down, because that looks awesome.

Norton Anti-Virus Is For Bitches

Starting sometime this weekend, Microsoft Word just wasn't working. It would just freeze as soon as it was opened. So, after about 3 hours of trying, I found out that Norton Anti-Virus thought the file which Word needs to open was a virus, therefore it wouldn't let Word open. Well, I deleted that whore and my computer runs so much faster now.

Eff you Norton Anti-Virus, you took 3 hours from me.
